"Twingo Tamer - About to descend into project car hell." (oppisitelock)

Yesterday the Twingo starting sounding like a creaky old ship while steering. Had a quick look yesterday and the noise is travelling through everything making it hard to tell where it’s coming from.
Hoping it’s just a bad ball joint or strut top, because it’s not unknown for steering racks to fail on these...

In my experience (one went on the Accent awhile back), those aren’t so much a creaking but a clicking/grindy clicking when turning on fuller locks of steering...?

Ah yes, the clacking CV joint. A sound you used to hear everywhere once but it seems that CVJs are made of sterner stuff nowadays.

No play in them and no clicking when pulling away at full lock so I don’t think so. After having looked at it I’m 90% sure it’s the rack. I’ll leave it for now and see if it gets worse.
